e.e. cummings-Assignment #4

if strangers meet

if strangers meet
life begins-
not poor not rich
(only aware)
kind neither
nor cruel
(only complete)
i not not you
not possible;
only truthful
-truthfully,once
if strangers(who
deep our most are
selves)touch:
forever
(and so to dark)

(so) You planned on getting close to me

(so) You planned on getting close to me?

(never) seemed to work
so caught up in the (lie)
(to) never say what we feel inside

how do You think this makes (me) feel towards You?
how can You keep this up (for) so long?

(Your) the only one Your fooling
NEVER get near me for the (sake) of You.

I like your choice of cummings poems.

You do a great job of emulating his style. Did you intentionally choose the words in parentheses to convey an underlying theme: "(so)(lie)(to)(me)(for)(your)(sake)" It's as if you're admonishing "him" on the surface, but admitting you'd accept the lie in the subtext...interesting.
